Критичарите укажуваат на маслиново масло, ореви и сирење кои добиваат полоши резултати отколку што интуицијата сугерира, и на некои диететски пијалоци кои добиваат добри резултати. Некои од овие критики се оправдани, а некои го погрешно разбираат дизајнот: Nutri-Score споредува во рамките на категориите на основа на 100 г и не е пресуда за тоа дали храната припаѓа на здрава исхрана.

Што значи легално здравственото тврдење

Во ЕУ, тврдењата за исхрана и здравје се регулирани: само овластени тврдења со прифатена база на докази можат да се појават, а секое е поврзано со специфични услови за употреба. "Придонесува за нормална имунолошка функција" е лиценцирана фраза со дефинирана основа, а не маркетиншки текст.

Она што не е регулирано е сè што го опкружува — слики, јазик за потекло и термини како "природно" или "здраво". Регулираното тврдење често е најмалку заблудувачка изјава на пакувањето.
