Ändrar Nutri-Score faktiskt vad folk köper?
På ett sätt. Den större effekten kan vara att tillverkare reformulerar för att få bättre poäng, vilket inte är vad debatten vanligtvis handlar om.
Vad översikterna visar
En systematisk översikt från 2025 av Nutri-Scores effektivitet [1] och en översikt av effekten av märkning på förpackningar [4] konvergerar: etiketter förändrar inköp i avsedd riktning, och förändringen är liten. Kriterievalideringsarbetet [2] adresserar en annan och tidigare fråga — om algoritmen rankar livsmedel på det sätt som näringsvetenskapen skulle — och svaret är i stort sett ja, med kända undantag.
De kostrelaterade index som ligger till grund för dessa system har också granskats [3], vilket är viktigt eftersom en profileringalgoritm kodar omstridda bedömningar om vilka näringsämnen som ska viktas.
Effekter av märkning på förpackningar
De kända undantagen
Kritiker pekar på att olivolja, nötter och ost får sämre poäng än intuitionen antyder, och att vissa dietdrycker får bra poäng. En del av detta är rättvist och en del missförstår designen: Nutri-Score jämför inom kategorier på en per-100 g-basis och är inte en dom över huruvida en matvara hör hemma i en hälsosam kost.
Nyligen genomförda algoritmrevisioner har adresserat flera av dessa fall. Den djupare poängen kvarstår: en enda bokstav kan inte koda allt om en matvara, och att behandla den som om den gör det är ett missbruk snarare än en brist.
Vad en hälsopåstående lagligt betyder
I EU regleras närings- och hälsopåståenden: endast auktoriserade påståenden med en accepterad evidensbas får förekomma, och varje är kopplad till specifika användningsvillkor. "Bidrar till normal immunfunktion" är en licensierad fras med en definierad grund, inte marknadsföringsprosa.
Vad som inte regleras är allt som omger det — bilder, ursprungsbeskrivningar och termer som "naturlig" eller "hälsosam". Det reglerade påståendet är ofta det minst missvisande uttalandet på förpackningen.
